The Legacy Society honors and celebrates those donors who have included a gift for HUMAA in their estate plans. These gifts take many forms, including simple bequests by will, designations of retirement plan assets, life income gifts and more. Legacy donors may direct their gift to establish a named endowed fund with HUMAA, creating an enduring gift to future generations. Gifts such as these offer the following benefits:
- Simplicity. Just a few sentences in your will or trust are all that is needed. Check out our Sample Bequest Language tips.
- Flexibility. Because you are not actually making a gift until after your lifetime, you can change your mind at any time.
- Versatility. You can structure the bequest to leave a specific item or amount of money, make the gift contingent on certain events, or leave a percentage of your estate to us.
- Tax Relief. If your estate is subject to estate tax, your gift is entitled to an estate tax charitable deduction for the gift's full value.
Please contact us when you include HUMAA in your estate plan. You can also fill out HUMAA's bequest form as confirmation. We would like the opportunity to say "thank you!"
"Howard University College of Medicine provided me a great education that has given me a fulfilling career in medicine. HUMAA has promoted the mission of the school and provided financial resources to aid students, student programs and the needs of the medical school. As a grateful alumnus and member of HUMAA I decided to leave funds in my estate plan to help HUMAA continue to provide assistance to MY College of Medicine, Howard University." -Connie Swiner, III, MD
